The method, in plain terms
Glossary
The words this site uses, and what they mean here. Definitions only — the how is in the book.
The orbit
Staying present and available without pressuring her to return. Close enough to be found, far enough to feel safe.
Trained response
The reply you rehearse before you need it — so that when she finally reaches out, you default to steadiness instead of the old habits.
Grace vs. groveling
Grace is dignity you practice whether she returns or not. Groveling is performing humility to get a result. She can tell the difference.
Power inversion
She holds the power now; you are the petitioner. Everything in the method starts from accepting that instead of fighting it.
The Never-List
Twelve messages that push her further away — the things every hurting parent sends, and why each one backfires.
Patterns, not words
A wary mind accepts only patterns, never words. She is not listening to your sentences; she is reading what you repeatedly do.
Rule 4
Nothing you do may make her responsible for your pain. No guilt, no ledger, no grief handed over for her to carry.
The letter that asks for nothing
The no-contact letter. It does not explain, defend, or ask for forgiveness — its only job is to prove the old parent is gone.
The standalone card
A handwritten card, mailed — never handed over — that asks for nothing but lunch, with no pressure and no rush.
Slow on the chase, fast on the response
The tempo of the whole method. Never hurry toward her; always answer quickly when she moves toward you.
Broadcaster and ghost
The two inherited models. The broadcaster only talks about herself; the ghost was never there at all. Most of us were raised by one and risk becoming the other.
Discovery beats announcement
Do not explain, defend, or announce the change. Let her discover it — a wary mind accepts only patterns, never words.
The Audit
The foundation look at your own unmet childhood needs — what you did not get, and how it is still driving you. Dual, and ongoing.
The Posture
The stance you hold whether she answers or not. Posture does not negotiate with outcomes — it is who you are now.
Mama bear at the gate
Grandchildren amplify everything by one hundred percent. Where a child is involved, her guard is not just hers anymore — it is a mother’s, and it does not negotiate.
Own a flaw, not an event
The letter owns a personality pattern, never a presumed wound. You do not get to name what hurt her — only what is true about you.
The conquest script
The pursuit markers — intensity, persistence, grand gestures — that read as romance in dating and as threat in repair. Your instincts match it marker for marker.
Calibrated
She is not paranoid; she is calibrated. Her guard is tuned by everything she has lived, and it grades patterns, not intentions.
Legible
Slow is what makes you legible as her father again. Legible means she can read you clearly — no static, no performance, nothing to decode.
The drift
The early distance before the break — when she is still there but pulling away. The stage where small corrections still work.
The daily craft
Checking the relationship’s pulse every day, as resolutely as you check your own needs. Small, deliberate, never skipped.
The flaw inventory
The workbook’s written inventory of your recurring patterns — the behaviors that shaped the relationship, owned on paper before they are owned aloud.
One doctrine, five distances
The product line’s shape: a single method, five books for five distances — drifting, distant, broken, no contact, and close.
The calm receiver
The person she finds if she reaches out: steady, unflinching, asking for nothing.
No credit for trying
The letter earns nothing for effort. Trying does not count — only what is true on the page counts.
Examination without prosecution
Looking honestly at your parents’ generation without putting them on trial. Assume their best, given their resources, maturity, and era.
The promise lock
Saying ‘maybe,’ ‘we,’ or ‘hopefully’ instead of making promises you cannot keep. Desire, stated honestly — never a lock on her timeline.
Fracture points
Where the break actually happened — the specific moments the relationship cracked, mapped so you stop defending the wrong ground.
Repair scenes
Worked scenarios of the first meeting and after — what the trained response sounds like when it is actually happening.
